new york nudges me along, lighting up my way. she wraps me in car smoke and chilly winds, a welcome back embrace. it’s hard to be lonely in new york, and even when you are, you can look outside and see ten people who feel like you.
after all this is over, i’m moving south where it’ll be cold in the summer and how in the winter. i’ll meet a beautiful boy and when he speaks birds will fly out of his mouth. we’ll go dancing and i’ll learn how. life will be hard, it’ll be waitressing and clenched throats, dirty apartments and no furniture, but god it will be beautiful.
